Seminole County Rallies to Top Surge
SANFORD, FL - Thanks to runs in the seventh and eighth, the Seminole County Naturals rallied to top the Space Coast Surge, 4-2 in Sanford on Friday night.
Bryan Frichter and Steve Pearson scored the two runs for the Surge, as both were unearned due to two errors by the Naturals.
Frichter, Pearson, Stantrel Smith and Steven Wright each had a hit for Space Coast, as they totaled four on the night. Smith also stole his sixth base of the season and is now leading the Florida Winter Baseball League in stolen bases.
Chris Bodishbaugh started on the mound for Space Coast and went seven innings and gave up four runs (three earned), allowed five hits and walked just one. Bodishbaugh struck out eight Seminole County hitters and is now the league leader in strikeouts with 22 on the season.
Space Coast and Seminole County will play the second game of the three-game series on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium.
