Surge Rally Falls Short Against Naturals

Smith, StantrelSmith’s 3 Run Blast Not Enough

SANFORD, FL - After falling behind 4-0, the Space Coast Surge rallied to make it 4-3 against the Seminole County Naturals, but were unable to complete the comeback.

Down 4-0 in the top of the seventh, Stantrel Smith (pictured) put the Surge right back in the game with one swing of the bat and belted a three-run home run, his second of the year, to make it a one run game. But Space Coast was unable to plate another run and fell in the series finale to Seminole County.

Jimmy Mojica went 2-for-4 with a double, his sixth of the season, which leads the Florida Winter Baseball League.

Baron Short went six innings on the hill for Space Coast and allowed four runs and struck out three. Matt Jernstad relieved Short and was able to keep it a one run game as he threw two perfect innings and struck out two.

Following an off day, the Space Coast Surge will travel to Miami to take on the Miami Diamantes in a three game series starting on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
