Jake Leonhardt, 25, is a right handed pitcher from Nacogdoches, Texas was a 37th round pick by the Houston Astros in 2007 after previously being drafted in the 50th round by the Washington Nationals in 2005. Leonhardt played collegiately at Stephen F. Austin University in Texas, before embarking on his professional career with the Astros. This past season he dominated the Continental Baseball League with an 8-2 record, 1.92 ERA and 97 strikeouts to only 17 walks in 88 innings. A top of the rotation starter, Leonhardt will be a welcome addition to Steve Foucault and the Surge staff.
